Monday Shoe Porn: 46 pairs, an inventory

November 9, 2009

L-A: Eden said something about taking pictures of her shoes and we said “yes! please! and blog about it!” because we knew she had a pair or two. In fact, I think it was Eden who suggested that I refer to my shoes as a “collection” to keep the Husband off my back about how many pairs I have. One thing I was always impressed by was her commitment to heels (I am kind of shocked to see flats and sneakers in the collection. I don’t think she even owned sneakers when she lived downstairs from me) and the fact that she had an entire bookshelf just for her shoes.

Eden: Ok so the LBS post made me want to do a photographic inventory of my shoes and the ladies wanted me to blog about it, so HERE WE GO. The main result is that I realized a) I need to clean and polish a lot of my shoes and b) I don’t really like all of them. But that’s cool!

There are a lot of them. You may want to sit down. Why are you reading the internet standing up anyway?

My favourites: the Weitzman peeptoes, the Kate Spade loafers, the Wild Diva croc pumps. I’ll be wearing the peeptoes tonight with a red halter dress and seamed stockings.

I don’t even know why I own those teal tennis shoes, or those godawful brown wedges.

Tell me what you think! My feelings will not be hurt, I am tough.

L-A (again): My shoe collection is in such disarray that I can’t count it without going to a couple of different rooms and two different floors. My shoes hate me. I did count though – I’ve got approximately 35 pairs – but really need to cull the collection and pick up some new ones.

As for Eden’s collection, I am with her on the Weitzman’s and the Kate Spades. I’m not sure why she owns the work boots. Unless she is thinking of tree planting (which I’m pretty sure she’s not), it may be time to lose those. The Blundstones are a good practical boot, but when I think of Eden and shoes, I don’t think of practical. I like the brown wedges and I hate the brown converse sneakers.

So, time for you to vote: which of Eden’s shoes do you love/hate? Also, do have more pairs of shoes than we do? It’s okay if you do. We’ll probably be impressed if you do.

Eden (again): We will definitely be impressed. Also, in my defense! The Blundstones were an Ottawa-winter-with-a-newborn concession. The work boots are for when I use actual power tools and don’t want my toes cut off (they are steeltoed!) and the sneakers are for the gym. What did you think I wore to the gym, strappy sandals? Actually that would be pretty awesome.

If those brown wedges were your size I would totally mail them to you.

OMG … this is the BEST idea EVER!!! SO much fun!! Thanks for sharing your shoes! I LOVE that there are pairs in there that you don’t especially love, and that you left the steel-toes in! I have steel-toe Mary Janes (I kid you not) for work. The Wild Divas are hot.

A significant chunk of my own shoe collection resides under my desk in a big beautiful mess … I tend to wear “practical” shoes/boots to work and change when I get there. I wrestle with storage issues at home and have often wanted to take Polaroids of my shoes for the outside of the box, so I find this so, so, so enjoyable…

This is the best way to start a Monday, a day and a week. Thanks for the shoe porn…

I am pleased to be a purveyor of shoe porn!

I highly recommend getting a cheap bookcase for shoes. It makes me feel like I live in a shoe store.

Maybe we’ll make Monday shoe porn day. I’ll try to take pics of some of my shoes for next Monday.

I started to count mine and gave up after the 6th pair of flip flops! I’d share pictures of the whole mess, but I kind of have label envy, since the majority of my shoes are probably from Target. Hey, I’m a single mom of 2, I have to cheat somewhere…

Although L-A, I have a true collection of shoes. I have (I think?) 7 pairs of porcelin collectable shoes to try and tame the shoe-monster with-in (yeah, it didn’t work)

Man, do *not* have label envy over my shoes. Did you notice how many of those were Le Chateau? There’s a reason it’s affectionaly called Le Crapeau. Although, I have often found their shoes surprisingly well-made and comfortable.

As far as the fancy-label shoes go, I am proud to reveal that the Kate Spades are from Ebay and were less than $30, and the Weitzmans are from the Salvation Army and cost eight bucks.

It is true – Eden is one of the queens of thrift shopping! If it weren’t for thrifting, I imagine she’d be right there with you at Target. (I also own way too many pairs of flip flops and acutally questioned whether I should include them in my count. If I take them out, I drop to under 30 pairs).

I need my friends to have bigger feet so that I can raid their shoe collections. Alas, they all have wee feet and they cannot lend me/mail me pairs they are no longer wearing. (I forgot you know how to use power tools. Steel toed boots forgiven).

It is probably terrible of me that I just really like your Pumas and Cons.

Nothing against any of your other shoes, but those Pumas are cute almost like baby sneakers!

I notice one pair of boots actually don’t stop at the top of the picture, they just keep on going don’t they?

I like the green In and Out’s, with there sneaker like toe cap and slightly heftier but not bulky heal. I think my next favourite would actually be the pink In and Out’s. Pink and black a good together.

Those two In and Out shoes were my favourites as well – the green ones are excellent.

I’m pretty sure I need to see Eden’s shoe bookcase…the shoes in their natural habitat…
