Shoe Porn Mondays

One of the best things we ever invented on this blog is Shoe Porn Mondays.  We owe it all to Intern Eden, who first shared her shoe collection in a guest post.  She really and truly is the Chloe Sevigny to our Jane Pratt/Christina Kelly.  Since you like it so much, we try to make sure that every Monday is a Shoe Porn Monday.

So here is how the shoe porn works:

1. Anyone can submit their shoes. We do not discriminate against any shoes. Even your ugly gym shoes and flip flops are allowed.
2. Dude shoes are also welcome (see point 1).
3. No limit on the number of shoes you can submit…although, if you have hundreds of shoes, we might have to split up your collection over a couple of weeks. (if you have hundreds of shoes, you really need to submit. Imelda Marcos: call us!)
4. No actual porn is to be submitted. We just want to ogle your collection of shoes. Let’s try to keep this a Family Blog (or at least safe for work).

How to submit:

Email (our preferred method of receiving shoes)

1. Take pictures of your shoes. One pair per picture. Only the shoes in the photo (no pets, kids, whatevers. Feet are okay if they’re wearing the shoes).
2. Attach the pics to the email.
3. Tell us a bit about yourself. Do you have a name? Do you have a blog? A twitter account?  We understand that some of you have professional type jobs and would rather not show up in a google search for “shoe porn”,  so we accept pseudonyms
4. In the body of the email, list the file names with a description of the shoe.  Keep the description as short as possible (think twitter – 140 characters). Tell us the brand (if you know it), where you bought it (if you remember) and maybe why you love the shoe. Here’s the format we use when we post it to the blog:  Shoe Name (Store) – blah blah insert description here blah blah
5. Sit back and wait for your Monday to come. We’ll notify you when it’s your turn.

Flickr

Because it might be a bit much to email all your shoes (large attachments, etcetera), you can also submit them through our flickr group.  The flickr group was a good idea in theory, but may not be the best way for us to collect your collections. It’ll do for now.

To use flickr:

1. You’ll need a flickr account (they’re free).
2. Take pictures of your shoes (obvs)
3. Upload pictures onto flickr.
4. “Join” the group.
5. Add photos to the group (I believe there is an option to do this when you open up a photo on flickr).
6. Unless your flickr profile gives us information, you still need to contact us somehow (maybe by email) and tell us about yourself.  Or at least tell us that you want to share your collection anonymously.
7. When describing your shoe in flickr, please use the following format (just to make our copying/pasting life easier):  Shoe Name (Store) – blah blah insert description here blah blah
8. As with email submissions, keep it as short as possible. The formatting that Worpress has for inserting a picture gallery means that a lot of text can look messy. And while our own shoe collections may be a mess, we try to keep the blog tidy.
