Back to School for Grown Ups
L-A: Yeah, that’s right. I went back to school. Ally has worked her mad PR skillz on me and now I want to be just like her (I’m studying PR). I haven’t had a full day of actual class, but I have been going to school over the past two days and the hardest thing (aside from meeting lots of new people) was what to wear without looking like a complete try-hard. Not easy.
Did I pull it off?
Honestly, I have no idea. That’s the trouble with picking out an outfit and going into a room full of strangers. You need your friends to tell you that you look cute. Otherwise, it can feel like you got dressed in the dark. Sure I’ve got my husband, but seriously? He’s the guy who told me I couldn’t wear a black pin on a turquoise jacket because it was the colours of the San Jose Sharks. I usually ignore him and he ends up getting frustrated and yelling, “why do you even ask me about these things?”
I went with an outfit that I’d wear to work during the summer. My favourite pair of Lacoste khakis, flats and this Joe Fresh blouse:
Did I take a picture? Nope! There are only so many first days of school that you take a picture of. Also, my coffee maker died on Monday (sad!), so I had to rush out the door early to buy coffee before I got the bus.
I’ve also sported a blazer and I’ll be doing these shoes at some point (getting into school was so last minute that I haven’t had time to buy the saddle shoes I want):
Is it possible to own/wear too much of the Joe Fresh stuff?
Going back to school is going to be a wardrobe adjustment. I spent the past year getting myself back into professional looking work clothes, and now I need to re-adjust to school clothes. If you were going back to class this fall, what would you be wearing? The program is meant to turn me into a professional, so do I want to dress in office attire everyday? Or do I want to go casual like a lot of students? (I won’t be using Jersey Shore for inspiration, but I have seen that on campus…thankfully not among my classmates).
