Who we are

Ally & L-A  are friends who live in Halifax. They have opinions about fashion.  They want to make the world pretty and outlaw the wearing of pajama pants in public.

The name of the blog is a shout out to HRM legend Joel Plaskett and his song ‘Fashionable People’ because we like Joel and we like the song. L-A firmly believes it should be on a Gossip Girl soundtrack.

So, what gives these ladies the right to start a blog about fashion? Who are these hacks?

Ally: Halifax native, trained in PR and known for her awesome style. Part of this style comes from her tendancy towards ridiculously expensive shoe purchases. She also has the unique ability to hide said shoe purchases from her loving husband with such believable excuses as, “These? My coworker bought them for me!”. Her living room is cluttered with back copies of Vogue, Elle, Fashion and Nylon magazines. Throwing these out would result in divorce.  Her dream job is to open a second hand thrift store full of incredible designer vintage.

L-A: A Come-From-Away and trained as a journalist, she adores fashion mags and spends far too much time online looking at clothes and handbags that she can’t afford (she is, after all, a grad student).  The love of fashion started early with her first magazine subscription to Flare when she was only ten years old. At the time, she thought she’d grow up to be a designer and would draw designs for her Barbies and used Fashion Plates obsessively. While her fear of the sewing machine put design dreams on hold, her love of fashion (and writing about herself in the third person) has never waned. She’s just focused that love into fashion “journalism” (well, blogging really). She once auditioned to be the host of Fashion File on CBC (TV is not her thing and she mercifully didn’t get a call back). She also sometimes blogs about crafts.

Both ladies are followable on Twitter:

L-A

Even better is that the blog has it’s own twitter account:

FashionableHfx is us. We’d be honoured if you followed along.
